Weybridge Renovation

A Complete Reimagining of a Period Family Home in Surrey

Set within Weybridge, Surrey, this extensive refurbishment is the complete reimagining of a period family home — bringing together architecture, interior design and project delivery to create a house that feels considered in every detail, yet effortless to live in.

Christopher David Design has been involved from the earliest design conversations through to the management and delivery of the project, providing our clients with a complete turnkey design service. This continuity has allowed us to consider the house as a whole, rather than a collection of individual rooms, creating a consistent architectural and interior language that flows naturally from one space to another.

At the heart of the renovation is a new open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, conceived as the place around which everyday family life will unfold. Walls are opened and spaces reconfigured to create a greater sense of generosity and connection, allowing cooking, dining, conversation and relaxation to exist together without losing their individual character.

The kitchen, designed in collaboration with Tom Howley, becomes a natural focal point within the room. More than somewhere to prepare food, it is designed as a place where mornings begin, family and friends gather and evenings naturally extend around the table. The adjoining living space introduces a softer, more relaxed layer, allowing the entire room to move effortlessly between the different rhythms of the day.

Beyond the principal living spaces, every room within the property is being refurbished. Our approach is to preserve the warmth and character expected of a period Weybridge home while introducing the comfort, technology and functionality of contemporary living.

Decorative ceiling details introduce depth and architectural character to the interiors, while carefully designed bespoke joinery and fitted wardrobes are integrated into the fabric of the rooms. Rather than appearing as additions, these elements are conceived as part of the architecture itself — bringing order, craftsmanship and a sense of permanence to the home.

Modern technology is deliberately less visible. A fully concealed ducted air-conditioning system is being installed throughout the property, providing year-round comfort without compromising the integrity of the interiors. A comprehensive smart lighting system allows the atmosphere of each room to change throughout the day, from brighter natural-feeling light in the morning to softer, warmer layers as the house settles into the evening.

It is this balance between what is seen and what is quietly working behind the scenes that defines much of the project. Period character sits alongside contemporary technology; decorative detailing is balanced by clean, considered interventions; and practical family spaces are treated with the same attention as the more formal rooms.

Our involvement continues beyond the design itself. Through our project management and delivery service, we coordinate the different craftsmen, contractors, suppliers and specialists required to realise the project, protecting the original design intent as the house moves from drawings into construction.

For our clients, this creates a genuinely turnkey experience. Architecture, interiors, bespoke joinery, specialist systems, procurement and delivery are considered as parts of one vision, with Christopher David Design providing a consistent point of contact throughout the transformation.

The result will be a home that retains the character and familiarity of a period property while feeling entirely renewed for the family who lives within it. A house for busy mornings around the kitchen island, long lunches overlooking the garden, evenings with friends and quieter moments at the end of the day — elegant without formality and luxurious without feeling precious.

Weybridge Renovation is ultimately about creating a home that feels deeply personal: one where beautiful architectural details and carefully considered interiors become the backdrop to everyday family life.
